"I needed to restore a badly weathered hardwood handrail on a roof terrace and Ian recommended Woodshield for the job. Sanding cleaned the wood up nicely then the product brought the colour back and gave a smart satin finish that keeps the water out. Delighted with the results and will remain a repeat customer. Edit for February 2026: when redecorating the family kitchen I needed to seal over a fairy disgraceful range of stains including water marks from a ceiling leak, smoke damage, scuffs, food stains and scorch marks on the wall behind an air fryer. I tried Smith & Rodger's Blockade white shellac sealer primer for the task. It goes on very easily and only needs one thin coat, so I actually have quite a bit left over. It dried quickly then was painted over with two coats of Crown Scrubbable Matt Emulsion for a durable finish. The result was top class - see before and after pictures below - and the room looks like new. I'd highly recommend Blockade for this kind of challenging job."
